Martini Grey
Martini Grey bestaat uit vijf musici uit de top van de Nederlandse jazzscene. In Brouwerij Martinus nemen ze ons mee op een muzikale reis, van geboren worden en opgroeien in kleine dorpen in het Noorden naar studeren en werken in metropolen als New York, Los Angeles en Tokyo.
De eigen composities van Martini Grey verbinden de energieke sfeer van de wereldstad met diepe wortels op het platteland. Dat is goed te horen op hun recente album Country City. Samen met de band keren we vanuit Brouwerij Martinus op swingende en aanstekelijke wijze terug naar onze eigen wortels, op het platteland of elders.
De leden van Martini Grey hebben elk op hun eigen wijze naam gemaakt binnen de Nederlandse jazz. Saxofonist Efraïm Trujillo is een Edisonwinnaar met The Preacher Men. Trompettiste Suzan Veneman tourt met haar solo-projecten door Nederland, waaronder dit voorjaar bij ons in Brouwerij Martinus, en speelt met het Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. Pianist Joost Swart tourde recent met zijn trio door China. Bassist Jeroen Vierdag is bekend van onder meer de Ploctones en zijn samenwerking met Teus Nobel. Drummer Ancel Klooster heeft met het pianotrio Klatwerk3 van Boelo Klat inmiddels zes platen opgenomen.

Martini Grey consists of five musicians from the top of the Dutch jazz scene. In Brouwerij Martinus they will take us on a musical journey, from being born and growing up in small villages in the north to studying and working in cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
Martini Grey’s original compositions blend the energetic atmosphere of the metropolis with deep roots in the countryside. This is clearly evident on their recent album Country City. Together with the band we will return from Brouwerij Martinus to our own roots, whether in the countryside or elsewhere, in a swinging way.
The members of Martini Grey have each made a name for themselves in Dutch jazz. Saxophonist Efraïm Trujillo is an Edison Award winner with The Preacher Men. Trumpeter Suzan Veneman tours the Netherlands with her solo projects, including a performance at Brouwerij Martinus this spring, and plays with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. Pianist Joost Swart recently toured China with his trio. Bassist Jeroen Vierdag is known for his work with the Ploctones and his collaboration with Teus Nobel. Drummer Ancel Klooster has recorded six albums with Boelo Klat’s piano trio, Klatwerk3.
