Chris Cheek & studenten van het Prins Claus Conservatorium
Onze jaarlijkse avond met studenten van het Prins Claus Conservatorium (PCC) staat dit keer in het teken van de muziek van gastdocent Chris Cheek, een zeer invloedrijke hedendaagse saxofonist uit de VS. Samen met getalenteerde studenten van het PPC brengt hij zijn composities tot leven, in samenwerking met PCC-docent Mark Haanstra.
Chris Cheek werkte samen met musici als Kurt Rosenwinkel, Bill Frisell, Charlie Haden en Brad Mehldau. Hij kan de saxofoon kan laten zingen als een menselijke stem en heeft het vermogen om met zijn muziek diepgaande emotionele verhalen over te brengen. In dit concert zullen uitsluitend composities van Chris worden gespeeld. Ze bieden de luisteraar en de musici een inkijkje in het creatieve brein van deze bijzondere musicus, die als geen ander eenvoud en diepgang weet samen te brengen.

Our annual evening with students from the Prince Claus Conservatoire (PCC) will this time focus on the music of guest teacher Chris Cheek, a highly influential contemporary saxophonist from the US. Together with talented students from the PCC, he will bring his compositions to life, in collaboration with PCC teacher Mark Haanstra.
Chris Cheek has collaborated with musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Bill Frisell, Charlie Haden and Brad Mehldau. He can make the saxophone sing like a human voice and has the ability to convey profound emotional stories through his music. This concert will feature exclusively Chris’s own compositions. They offer the audience and the musicians a glimpse into the creative mind of this exceptional musician, who, like no other, knows how to combine simplicity with depth.
