Rembrandt Frerichs Quartet feat. Jesse Schilderink
Op woensdag 16 december keert Pianist Rembrandt Frerichs in Brouwerij Martinus terug naar een belangrijk beginpunt in zijn muzikale ontwikkeling. Als 25-jarige speelde hij met de Amerikaanse saxlegende Michael Brecker, een ervaring die hem altijd is bijgebleven. Nu blaast hij dat oorspronkelijke idee nieuw leven in met een band waarin ervaring, jonge energie en muzikale vrijheid samenkomen.
Met saxofonist Jesse Schilderink vindt Frerichs een avontuurlijke sparringpartner van nu. Contrabassist Matheus Nikolaewski en drummer Mitchell Damen zorgen voor een frisse, beweeglijke ritmesectie die voortdurend schakelt tussen groove, spanning en open improvisatie. Samen vormen ze een band die niet vastligt, maar blijft zoeken, reageren en veranderen.
Dit wordt een concert vol avontuur, vrijheid en verrassende wendingen. Jazz met lef, karakter en een eigen smoel, ergens tussen traditie en vernieuwing.

On Wednesday 16 December pianist Rembrandt Frerichs will return in Brouwerij Martinus to a key starting point in his musical development. At the age of 25, he played with the American saxophone legend Michael Brecker, an experience that has stayed with him ever since. Now he is breathing new life into that original idea with a band that combines experience, youthful energy and musical freedom.
In saxophonist Jesse Schilderink, Frerichs has found a contemporary, adventurous sparring partner. Double bassist Matheus Nikolaewski and drummer Mitchell Damen provide a fresh, dynamic rhythm section that constantly shifts between groove, tension and open improvisation. Together, they form a band that isn’t set in its ways, but continues to explore, react and evolve.
This will be a concert full of adventure, freedom and surprising twists. Jazz with guts, character and a distinct identity, somewhere between tradition and innovation.
