Orè
Orè is een kwartet onder leiding van de Braziliaanse contrabassist en componist Pedro Ivo Ferreira, gevestigd in Amsterdam. De groep bestaat uit muzikanten uit Brazilië, Portugal, Uruguay en Nederland, die allemaal actief zijn in de Europese geïmproviseerde muziekscene: naast Ferreira zijn dit José Soares op altsaxofoon, Miguel Petrucelli op gitaar en Onno Govaert op drums.
Hun recente album Matter Antimatter verkent de spanning tussen gecomponeerd materiaal (‘matter’) en spontane creatie (‘antimatter’). In beknopte stukken gaan ze van op groove gebaseerde structuren naar open improvisatie, waarbij ze Braziliaanse muziek combineren met Europese vrije improvisatie.
Orè benadrukt collectieve identiteit op het podium, waar groove, textuur en abstractie zonder hiërarchie naast elkaar bestaan. Geschreven materiaal fungeert als katalysator in plaats van als vaste vorm, waardoor er ruimte blijft voor risico en realtime interactie. En dat gaan ze ons laten horen in Brouwerij Martinus!

Orè is a quartet led by Brazilian double bassist and composer Pedro Ivo Ferreira, based in Amsterdam. The group brings together musicians from Brazil, Portugal, Uruguay and the Netherlands, all active in the European improvised‑music scene: in addition to Ferreira they are José Soares on alto sax, Miguel Petrucelli on guitar, and Onno Govaert on drums.
Their recent album Matter Antimatter explores the tension between composed material (‘matter’) and spontaneous creation (‘antimatter’). Across concise pieces, they move from groove‑based structures to open improvisation, combining Brazilian music with European free improvisation.
Orè emphasizes collective identity on stage, where groove, texture and abstraction coexist without hierarchy. Written materials act as catalysts rather than fixed forms, leaving space for risk and real‑time interaction. And that is what they are going to do in Brouwerij Martinus!
