Tobias Delius & Michiel Scheen delen een liefde voor de jazztraditie en improvisatorisch avontuur. Als duo duiken ze in Brouwerij Martinus de diepte in, waarbij op lichtvoetige wijze toespelingen worden gemaakt op Fats Waller, Ben Webster, Duke Ellington, Don Byas, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Cecil Taylor, Archie Shepp en Misha Mengelberg. Ook eigen thema’s worden situationeel ingezet. Met speelse gretigheid neemt dit fantastische duo de luisteraar mee in een dynamisch geheel dat elke keer weer fris en nieuw is.
Tobias Delius (klarinet, tenorsax) is een hedendaagse jazzgigant die onlangs de prestigieuze Jazzpreis Berlin won. Hij ontwikkelde zijn zeer persoonlijke stijl in Amsterdam en woont nu in Berlijn. Hij leidde jarenlang een veelgeprezen Kwartet met Han Bennink, Joe Williamson en Tristan Honsinger. Daarnaast speelt hij in het Trio Booklet met Joe Williamson en drummer Steve Heather, is hij vast lid van het ICP Orchestra en werkt hij in uiteenlopende samenstellingen met musici van over de hele wereld.
Michiel Scheen (piano) werkte in vele toonaangevende formaties in de geïmproviseerde muziek, onder meer met Maarten Altena, Guus Janssen, Misha Mengelberg, Paul Termos en in vele internationale ensembles. In 2012 voegde hij zich bij Raoul van der Weide en George Hadow in het Blue Lines Trio en in 2016 vormde hij met Ada Rave, Bart Maris en Wolter Wierbos het Blue Lines Sextet. Hij speelt ook in het Jan Nijdam Kwartet.

Tobias Delius (clarinet, tenor sax) is a contemporary jazz giant who recently won the prestigious Jazzpreis Berlin. He developed his highly personal style in Amsterdam and now lives in Berlin. For many years he led a highly acclaimed quartet with Han Bennink, Joe Williamson and Tristan Honsinger. He also plays in the Trio Booklet with Joe Williamson and drummer Steve Heather, is a permanent member of the ICP Orchestra, and works in various ensembles with musicians from all over the world.
Michiel Scheen (piano) has worked in many leading formations in improvised music, including with Maarten Altena, Guus Janssen, Misha Mengelberg, Paul Termos and in many international ensembles.
